why Civil Engineering?

The Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams and buildings. The thing we eat, the air we breathe, the road on which we walk, the runway on which we fly, the part where we perform our business, the water we drink, the sanitation we need, the power we utilized, the weather we forecast, all is maintained and developed by Civil Engineers with lots of excitement and joy to live. All we should be Civil engineersCivil Engineers are an integral part of society, without them, we would have no roads, airports, buildings, dams, harbors etc. Those who work in Civil Engineering deal with the infrastructure that we live in – from the roads we walk on to how waste is disposed of.

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is considered to be the most versatile branch among all the engineering branches. It is the branch with a lot of diversity from geotechnical sciences to structural engineering, environmental to hydraulics, transportation to hydrology; Civil Engineering (CE) can be considered as a single largest branch among all the engineering branches. The Four year B.Tech (Civil Engineering) Program is designed to provide a strong foundation to serve the society. The students are acquainted with the practical aspects in various labs along with theoretical concepts.  The degree holders of civil engineering plan design and supervise construction of facilities essential to modern life. These facilities vary widely in nature, size and scope including space satellites and launching facilities, offshore drilling structures, bridges, buildings, highways and other transport systems, tunnels, airport, dams, harbors and other infrastructure. A civil engineering degree prepares you to work in various engineering areas, from construction to communications infrastructure. Today’s civil engineers face the challenge of creating structures which at times seen to defy gravity, defy engineering science and even defy logic. Yet, these amazing structures are firmly based in scientific principle; seeming to bend scientific laws to meet the needs of the architect.

Frequently asked questions

After you pass out and get a B.E (Civil) or B.Tech (Civil) there are three possible aspects of a job you can option for, each of them have distinct opportunities. Public Sector:-Mostly State Government funded projects which are organized by issuing tenders in a local daily, from which the lowest bidder usually wins the contract. These are for constructing bridges, flyovers, roads, power project construction, dams and airports. Private Sector:-Big family run construction businesses like townships residential apartments, malls and multistory buildings .Domestic Vs. International:-In the past 5 years, most private construction companies have undertaken projects in the Gulf, Middle East and South East Asia to build Hotels and Townships

Civil Engineers create, improve and protect the environment in which we live. They plan, design and oversee construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure, such as roads, railways, airports, bridges, harbors, dams, irrigation projects, power plants, water and sewerage systems.

Students of CE department are placed at different places and are working as Interior designers, Structural Analysts, site Engineers in various PSU, , and  Quality analysis and Quality control Testing of Engineering materials in well reputed Companies (like DLF, IRCON, AFCON ,JAYPEE,GAMMON INDIA etc) as well as in government organization.

The various software used for the analysis and designing of Civil engineering projects are AutoCAD, STAAD pro, Rivet etc.
