About the Department

Project work throughout the course underpins the necessity for a combination of practical and theoretical skills and abilitiesWith ever-increasing tempo of events throughout the world, it has become essential to have more efficient communication network with the latest electronic devices and circuits. The Department has been maintaining the sophisticated modern equipments in various laboratories to train the students as per the standards set up by the University with Industrial applications & visits. The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering started with an intake of 60 students with well qualified Faculty, Excellent Laboratories, Seminar Hall and Library facilities in Year 2009. From the Academic session 2012-13, The Department introduced an M.Tech programme in ECE with an intake of 18 students (Morning Shift) & 18 Students (Evening Shift). The Department is successfully functioning under the guidance of Dr. N.D. Sharma, Prof. & Dean (Faculty of Engineering and Research & Development).   Vision To achieve excellence in technical education and research in core or thrust areas of Electronics & Communication to occupy a place of pride amongst the eminent organizations of the world.   Mission To facilitate and promote studies and research in emerging areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering with focus on new frontiers of innovations in Science & Technology which lead to evolution of enlightened technocrats, innovators, scientists, leaders and entrepreneurs who will contribute to national growth.   Facilities

Faculty

The well qualified faculty is dedicated to prepare students as professional engineers through training in deep core areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering with fundamental principles as well as with real time applications and design environment. Project work supervised by the Faculty of ECE Department from the starting of the course completes the necessity of practical skills and theoretical knowledge & skills. Also Our goal is to provide students with intellectual build up and practical experiences that enable them to serve a variety of societal needs. Through a nice framework of course and projects, the department endows students with the ability to apply knowledge of science & engineering to work effectively in multidisciplinary areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering with technical expertise. The major areas of faculty expertise include Electromagnetics, Opto-Electronics, Patch Antenna Design, Soft computing, Embedded System Design, Power Electronic Drives, Industrial Automation and Control, Genetic Algorithm, Neural Network, Fuzzy Logic System, Optimization Techniques, Nanotechnology, Sensor Networks etc.

Expert lecture /Seminars

  • The Department organised “National Conference on Recent Innovations in Electrical & Electronics & Communication Engineering (RIEECE-12)” on 24-11-2012. N. D. Sharma, Dean, R&D and Faculty of Engineering was the conference chair. Mr. Saranjeet Singh was the organising secretary of the conference. Dr. Pawan Kapoor, Director, CSIO, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. Other eminent invited speakers were Dr. Raj Singh, CEERI, Pilani, Dr. S. Das Gupta, IIT, Roorkee, Dr. Anil Vohra, Dean Faculty of Engg., K.U., Kurukshetra, Dr. J. S. Saini, Prof. & Head (EE & ECE), DCRUST, Murthal, Dr. L. M. Bharadwaj, Ex. Deputy Director, CSIO, Chandigarh, Dr. R. K. Sharma, NIT, Kurukshetra, GGGI, Dinarpur, Ambala.
  • One Day Seminar on “VHDL/VERILOG” was conducted by Mr. Sorabh, CoreEl Technologies Pvt. Ltd. on 4-3-2012 for 3rd & final year students.

Workshops Organised

  • The Department organised Two-Week ISTE Main Workshop On “Control Systems” from 2nd Dec to 12th Dec, 2014 under the National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt. of India) Conducted by IIT Kharagpur. Mrs Ankita Mittal was the coordinator of the workshop, & attended the training workshop at IIT, Kharagpur.
  • The Department organised Two-Week ISTE Main Workshop On “Analog Electronics” from 4th June to 14th June, 2013 under the National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt. of India) Conducted by IIT Kharagpur. Mr. Saranjeet Singh was the coordinator of the workshop, & attended the training workshop at IIT, Kharagpur.
  • One day Workshop on “PCB Designing” was held in September 2012.
  • The Department organised “Project Display” made by Third Year Students on The Engineers Day i.e. on 15-9-2011.
  • One day Workshop on “PCB Designing” was held in September 2012.

Other Activities

Department of ECE also constitute a society named “Technoglint” which organises various technical as well as cultural activities.a10
