Pursuing Excellence in Education

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering branches which combines creativity, knowledge and analytical tools to complete the difficult task of shaping an idea into reality. Technically, mechanical engineering is the application of the principles and problem solving techniques of engineering from design to manufacturing to the market place for any object. Mechanical engineers analyze their work using the principles of motion, energy, and force ensuring that designs function safely, efficiently, and reliably, all at a competitive cost. Mechanical engineering careers center on creating technologies to meet human needs. Virtually every product or service in modern life has probably been touched in some way by a mechanical engineer to help humankind which includes solving today’s problems and creating future solutions in health care, energy, transportation, world hunger, space exploration, climate change, and more. Being ingrained in many challenges and innovations across many fields means a mechanical engineering education is versatile. To meet this broad demand, mechanical engineers may design a component, a machine, a system, or a process. This ranges from the macro to the micro, from the largest systems like cars and satellites to the smallest components like sensors and switches. Anything that needs to be manufactured indeed, anything with moving part needs the expertise of a mechanical engineer.

VISION

Towards a Global Knowledge Hub, endeavour continuously in pursuit of excellence

Mechanical Engineering Education, Research and Innovation.

MISSION
  • To educate, prepare and mentor students to excel as professionals.
  • To provide facilities and environment conducive to excellent education to get varied careers in the field of research as well as in Mechanical Engineering.
  • To engage the students in academic as well as scholarly activities, which strengthen the department reputation in the national & international market.

Why the Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is perhaps the most diverse and versatile of the engineering disciplines. In addition to physics and mathematics, it encompasses key elements of aerospace, electrical, civil, chemical and even materials science and bio-engineering. Mechanical engineering touches virtually every aspect of modern life, from mobile phones and biomedical devices, to aircrafts and power plants. Not only engineering, mechanical engineers deal with economic issues, from the cost of a single component, to the economic impact of a manufacturing plant. Besides this, mechanical engineers can also be found in sales, engineering management, and corporate management. Mechanical engineers are educated and positioned, not only to adapt, but to define and direct change.
