Galaxy Global group of Institutions (GGGI) delivers curriculum using an innovative “blended approach” that includes development of programmes and courses based on industry and academics inputs, classroom teaching coupled with, application based pedagogy, continuous assessment, organized feedback from students and further improvisation of teaching techniques. Some of the Classroom teaching methods adopted to enhance best of the practices and help students to derive the best of the learning from their programmes and courses are:

·        Case Based Teaching

This method of teaching is devised to facilitate the students to relate theory with the real world. The suitable cases to clarify the concepts learnt by the student are given to students well in advance to come prepared with case analysis to be discussed in the class. The discussion held for the case-studies in the class encourages students to apply the concepts learnt, for problem solving/ decision making in the face of reality and develops the interpersonal skills necessary for putting one’s point forward.

·     Group Discussions

Group discussions are conducted by the Institute among the students to increase awareness of the world wide events and their effects and also to enhance interpersonal skills – the ability to either convince others or get convinced. During this activity, the students are expected to well prepared about the topic, to abide by the norms during the discussion and also to respond to the feedback with a more logical and assertive approach.

·      Simulation

This technique helps in linking the concepts with their applications in the professional field. This also helps to replicate a real world situation in a class room setting through various modes like role plays and software based modeling. Such activities link the concepts learnt by the students to their application in the professional field. During this activity, the students imagine themselves in the decision making situation and act accordingly using all the available data and theoretical models.

·         Presentations, Video Films and Demonstration of Models, Equipment and Processes

The Institute understands that the future professionals need to be well versed in every minute aspect of corporate world. With the concern to develop clarity of thought and confidence for addressing the public, along with other presentation skills in the students, an activity is devised where the students give presentations during their class hours. A date-wise schedule of the topics to be presented by the students is prepared by the teachers, so that the students can prepare their topics well in time. To keep up students interest and to facilitate better understanding of processes, an appropriate video related to a process / situation is chosen and later on a discussion around it is initiated by the teachers.

·         Slide Show

The teachers use Slide Shows as teaching aids to employ visual mode for flow charts, diagrams, animations etc, for the better comprehension and retention.

·         Brainstorming

Brainstorming is used as an important pedagogical tool as it is a process for developing creative solutions to problems. It works by focusing on a problem, and then deliberately coming up with as many solutions as possible and by pushing the ideas as far as possible.

This technique helps the students to Think creatively and voice ideas, without fear of criticism or ridicule.Explore an issue multi-dimensionally. Shoot a problem and solicit ideas irrespective of their feasibility. Discuss the pros and cons of the ideas, find the possible solutions to the problems, if any, and come up with a proposal backing the idea.

Lectures and Tutorials

The lectures conducted for every course are there to develop in the students the analytical, conceptual, presentation, communication and application oriented skills. The class rooms and lecture halls are well equipped with modern teaching aids like multimedia projectors and computers with Wi-Fi connectivity which help to make teaching more interesting and interactive for students. The simulated teaching software help the student to understand the process in highly visualized form.
Tutorials are the small group teaching methods that give opportunities to the students to talk about material being taught, ask questions and discuss material with their classmates and a designated tutor in a smaller group.
The students are free to ask any questions cropping up in their minds while listening to lectures and attending tutorials and the teachers make sure to answer them in the best way understood by the students.

Laboratory

The practical sessions are ideal testing grounds for students to apply and test the concepts. Modern laboratories and workshops are an integral part of the various departments of institute. Each department maintains its specialized labs, well equipped with modern equipment of industrial standards. For boosting the creativity amongst the students, challenging experiments are designed. The students give presentation on experimental work followed by open house viva in which they have to explain the findings and interpretations.

Cutting edge technology is a significant focus at GGGI. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled with high speed internet. All computer laboratories are CISCO certified and fully integrated through LAN. All classrooms are equipped with Audio visual facilities such as LCD Projector etc. The machines in the workshops are seen to be believed and most of them have been imported from the best of international vendors. The Fashion and Apparel design labs have been furnished with scores of Japanese sewing machines and other relevant accessories in their inventories. The well stocked three-tier library is one of the most unique features of this institution.

Communication Labs meant exclusively for improving the communication/Soft skills of the students are Fully software enabled and equipped with the latest video and audio recording equipment which help in providing practical training to students in communication/Soft skills. The actions of students while speaking or doing any communication activity are recorded by these equipment and later the guide displays all their actions and dialogues and guides them about their core strengths and areas of improvement. Galaxy Global Campus is spread across 30 acres with centrally air-conditioned buildings and pollution free ambience is located in Ambala District only 3 kms from G.T. Road. Hostel & Mess

Highly Secure & Comfortable Hostels and hygienic Mess facilities

At GGGI we believe that a comfortable living environment is essential to increase the efficiency of students and help them focus on their academics better. GGGI has two separate 500 bedded Hostels for boys and girls. These hostels are fully air-conditioned and each of the rooms has attached washrooms and study areas. For the comfort of visiting parents, there is an air-conditioned Guest house. There is also an in-campus Students’ mess, Restaurant and Medical Centre.

  • Students have to maintain proper discipline in the hostel.
  • No outsider can stay with any student without proper permission of the competent authority.
  • Entry in the hostel mess is allowed only in proper uniform.
  • Student living in the hostel has to dine in Mess. No student will be permitted to dine outside except on medical grounds.
  • Smoking, drinking is prohibited in the hostel and college campus.
  • At the weekend if students want to go home, they are required to inform to the hostel warden and must enter name in the register maintained for this purpose.
  • Students are advised to keep their precious items in safe custody. College will not be responsible for any loss /theft of any item.

Hostel fee once deposited shall not be refunded.

Galaxy Global has an excellent well equipped centrally air- conditioned library having ever increasing book collection of a wide range of books on various subjects, reference books, video cassettes, CD – ROMs and a large number of print & online journals. With its growing resources, space & services, library caters to the need of the faculty, the research scholars and the students. It is located in the heart of the institution and is easily accessible to all   departments, classrooms and hostels.

For effective teaching and learning process library is maintaining a special section of educational CD’s and DVD’s in the fields of engineering, management and science and humanities. Library takes more efforts in adding more titles, volumes of books and journals every year to quench the thirst of teaching faculty and students. It also has a separate collection of prescribed textbooks under ‘Book Bank’ for the exclusive use of the students.

Book Bank Facilities:-

To cater to the need of all students for all semesters including MBA, MCA, B.TECH Courses, 6 books for a semester are provided to each student in addition to 3 books for 14 days.  Book Bank facility is also extended to M.TECH. students and they can get the books issued out for full semester.

Current Journals:-

Central Library subscribes to 135 print and approx. 960 online journals in the field of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Management, Fashion and Apparel Design etc. As many as 50complimentary journals are also received in the library. All journals are displayed subject wise in Periodical Section of the library.

DELNET Journals:-

Library is a member of DELNET (Developing Libraries Network).  Approximately 960 e-resources under DELNET consortium are also available under its various databases. To access online resources in the institute premises, library is providing services through internally maintained web server.

DELNET MOU:-

Galaxy Global Group of Institution has entered with MOU with Developing Libraries Network and subscribes to two E- Journals databases namely -:

1) Info Trac Management Collection under which articles from 1700 e-Journal & magazine are accessible

2) Info Trac Engineering Science and Technology Collection under which 2233 e-Journal are accessible.

NPTEL:-

Library has procured NPTEL Web & Video Courses designed by IIT’s like Madras IIT, Delhi IIT etc, in various discipline of Engineering & Science for the use of the faculty members, the research scholars & the students. The subject index of various (11069) lectures has been prepared and is available in central library of the institute.

NDL:-

Our institute is an Institutional member of National Digital Library of India (NDL, India).  NDL gives the platform to access Lacs of educational materials/records in different formats (Books, Proceedings, Presentations, Animations, Videos etc.) to its users ranging from primary to post-graduate levels.

Reference Service:-

Reference sources provide current information on a wide range of subjects. These documents include Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Hand-books, Atlas etc. They are arranged in separate shelves and only for in house use. Qualified and trained library personnel are on duty to help the users to locate the desired information.

Reprographic Facilities:-

Library provides Reprographic Services to its readers from books, periodicals & other reading materials @ 50 paisa per copy.

Total Floor Area & Reading Space:-

Library is a growing organism. To meet all requirements sufficient space has been added for stacking and reading area and other services. A comfortable and spacious seating arrangement in library provides a complete academic atmosphere where student can sit and concentrate on their studies. Library has a reading capacity for 350 readers and provides sufficient space for stacking new documents, digital library and Audio/Visual Centre. The total area of the library, at present, is 30,000 sq-ft.

Library Automation :-

Library is fully automated and is providing automated services in all sections of the library using LIBEZEE Software. Database of the library is updated regularly. Library transactions are maintained by integrated library management software package with Bar-coding provisions for ID cards and library books. Online public access catalogue (OPAC). facility is available to save the access time of the users. Twenty four systems connected to LAN with internet facility have been provided for the students. They can use this facility for their project work, preparation for seminars and paper presentations.

Library Membership & Loan Privileges:-

Students/teachers, research scholars and staff of the institute are admitted as member of the library on the recommendation of concerned H.O.D/Section Incharge. Library membership forms can be obtained and submitted at circulation counter in the library. The number of books that may be borrowed by each category of members and period of loan is as under:

Condition of loans

  1. The Library reserves the right to recall any book issued to any members even prior to the due date of return.
  2. Reference Books and other special reading material shall not ordinarily be loaned to members.
  • Unbound periodical shall not be lent out.
  1. Only bound volume of periodicals will be lent to teachers.
  2. Books will be issued for 14 days. Members should return Library books before the due date, failing which delay fine @ Rs. 5 per day per book shall be charged.
  3. Books are not reissued, ordinarily.

Loss of Books:-

The member shall have to replace the book lost by him/her or will have to pay double/triple the price of the book. If a book so lost belongs to a set and it is not available separately, the member shall have to replace the full set or pay double/triple the price of the set.

Care of Books:-

  1. Library books are meant not only for the present library members but also for the future members of the library. They should be handled with every care and consideration.
  2. Damaging and defacing of books is highly objectionable and may lead to cancelation of membership privileges and replacement of damaged book by a new one.

 Library Rules and Regulation:-

  1. Every person who so ever enters the library shall first make entry in gate computer/sign the gate register and accept to follow the library rules.
  2. It is a breach of the library regulation to attempt to enter library by use of another reader’s identity card. Readers must show their identity card on request of the library staff, when they are within the library.
  3. No library book is taken out of library building except a book, which is permitted and which has been recorded by the library staff as being on loan to the reader.
  4. Mutilation or defacement of any book or article of library property is regarded as a major offence.
  5. Any marking or highlighting or underlying of any content of any book/Journal is strictly prohibited and subject to disciplinary action.
  6. Use of Mobile phone is strictly prohibited and mobile should be switched off prior to entering the library.
  7. Readers are all times responsible for their property.
  8. Activities like group discussion and audible conversation are strictly prohibited in library reading area.
  9. Books will be issued for 14 days. An overdue charge @ Rs. 5/- per book per day will be charged from the defaulters.
  10. Silence must be observed as far as possible in all parts of library. Users of computers in the library are reminded that they must also comply with the college IT and Networking code of conduct and other regulation being is in force.
  11. All the books borrowed must be returned to the library on the completion of each semester.

 

Breach of the library regulation will result in disciplinary action by the Director on the report/recommendation/of Incharge Library.

Stack Guide:-

Books are arranged on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. In order to facilitate the library users to trace out the required books by themselves, Bay guides, Book Stack Guided and Subject Guides have also been provided.

Anti Ragging Committee

Important Notice

The students of Galaxy Global Group of Institutions, Dinarpur  are hereby warned that they shall not indulge in “RAGGING”. If they are found guilty of ragging they are liable for punishment without prejudice to any other criminal action that may be taken under any penal law.

As per the Gazette of India, July 4, 2009 UGC defines What constitutes Ragging.- Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:

  1. Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student;
  2. Including in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student;
  3. Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student;
  4. Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturb the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher;
  5. Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
  6. Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students;
  7. Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gesture, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
  8. Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student;
  9. Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.

With or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student. Administrative action in the event of ragging: – Depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the following punishments, namely:

  1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
  2. Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
  3. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process.
  4. Withholding results.
  5. Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  6. Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
  7. Cancellation of admission.
  8. Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.
  9. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period. Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
