Dr. A.Sarada Devi (Dean, Department of Fashion and Apparel Design) is PhD in Textiles. She had teaching experience of more than 39 years and research experience of 8 year. She has more than 100 research publication, review articles and chapter in book under her name. She has guided successfully many PhD and M.SC students in their research work.

Dr.Anshul Sharma

Specialization in Textile and Apparel Designing

Dr. Anshul Sharma  (Head, Department of Fashion and Apparel Design) is PhD in Textile and Apparel Designing. She has 7 years of teaching experience. She has  7 Research papers to her credit  in different National and International journals. She has also assisted different UGC projects and seminar.


Dr. Poonam

Specialization in Textile and Apparel Designing

Dr. Poonam is  PhD in Textile and Apparel Designing. she has been awarded as Silver Jubilee Gold Medal for women  in 2013-2014 in her  PhD research work .She has experience of 4 years in Fashion Designing. She has published 12 Research papers in different National and International journals.

Fashion shows also provide job option for fashion designers as they are responsible for the planning and execution of these events. In addition to organizing and hosting the event, the designer is also responsible for the marketing and promotion that goes along with it.

1. What is the scope of fashion designing ?

Designing is one of the extremely fascinating and profitable career option today. The students having degree in fashion and designing has an endless opportunities. They can work in different fields like Garment and Textile Export houses, as a designer in Television and Film Industry, Freelancer- Fashion designers, Retail Chains, Fashion stylist, Fashion coordinator Faculty in College/ School,. Talented people in this sphere enjoy glamour, success & high compensation. Practical, industrial experience is a must in this field which can be achieved via internships or upon getting a job.


2. What are the different places where students go for internship ?

Internships for the students related to fashion designing can be varied and often not as glamorous as they sound. Like other fields it also requires hard work and tolerance to get start in a new environment and working conditions. In GGGI, the students in their 8th semester go for six month internship at different places that include New Delhi, Mumbai, Ludhiana, Surat, Mohali, Jaipur, Chandigarh and many more.


3. Jobs/Placement of students

Students of BFAD department are placed at different place and are working as merchandiser in export houses, designers, production manager, in department of quality control and analyst at Surat, Mumbai. Faridabad, Noida, Ludhiana etc.


4. What kind of other skills are  imparted to the student ?

The student get exposure to managerial, entrepreneurial and marketing skill as the department organizes many fashion shows and exhibitions in the course duration that includes student inputs to make it a successful task. The students also get involved in advertisement of different programs through CAD.


5. What is the duration of course ?

It is a 4 year degree course that includes 6 month internship for industrial exposure of student.
