Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is considered to be the most versatile branch among all the engineering branches. It is the branch with a lot of diversity from geotechnical sciences to structural engineering, environmental to hydraulics, transportation to hydrology; Civil Engineering (CE) can be considered as a single largest branch among all the engineering branches. The Four year B.Tech (Civil Engineering) Program is designed to provide a strong foundation to serve the society. The students are acquainted with the practical aspects in various labs along with theoretical concepts. The degree holders of civil engineering plan design and supervise construction of facilities essential to modern life. These facilities vary widely in nature, size and scope including space satellites and launching facilities, offshore drilling structures, bridges, buildings, highways and other transport systems, tunnels, airport, dams, harbour’s and other infrastructure. A civil engineering degree prepares you to work in various engineering areas, from construction to communications infrastructure. Today’s civil engineers face the challenge of creating structures which at times seen to defy gravity, defy engineering science and even defy logic. Yet, these amazing structures are firmly based in scientific principle; seeming to bend scientific laws to meet the needs of the architect.

About the Civil Engineering Department

The Department of Civil Engineering at Galaxy Global Group of Institutions has been in existence since the inception of the Institute in 2009 affiliated to Kurukshetra University (A+ NAAC Accredited). The Civil Department is focused on the Designing, Surveying, and Construction sectors, producing technically expert engineers. GGGI’s Civil Engineers are making significant contributions in the planning and execution of Civil Engineering projects in India.
The Department follows advanced teaching methodologies, with state-of-the-art facilities for Research & Laboratory, to keep in pace with the latest advancements. The department inculcates entrepreneur skills in the budding civil engineers to compete and excel in the current world scenario. The department has sustained the standard of its academic programs, via working with industrial professionals. The academic programmes, offered at the Department of Civil Engineering are B. Tech. (Four Year Course), M.Tech. (Two Year Course). The Master’s degree is offered in Geotechnical Engineering.
Faculty members provide civil on-site training experiences, through Educational Cum Industrial Visits, at the on-going civil projects, of national importance. The faculty of the department continues to deliver the latest technical knowledge to the students, on the firm pillars of research and innovation.

Future Scope

The Civil Engineering field is expected to grow by 25% every year. This is due to the increasing demand for infrastructure and the need for qualified professionals to design and build these projects. With the ever-growing population, there is a constant need for new housing, roads, and other structures, which creates a lot of opportunities for civil engineers.

In India, the construction industry comprises of the urban development segment and real estate in general. The urban development segment includes urban transport, water supply, healthcare, sanitation, and schools. Whereas, the real estate segment encapsulates office, residential, hotels, shopping malls, leisure parks, and retail, amongst others.

The growing middle class is creating a demand for better roads and more airports for easy and quick transportation, more power grids to light even the most remote rural regions, and modern office buildings and infrastructure to support the continued growth of the global economy created by the rise of online and e-commerce trade. Add to this the rapid advancements in software, solutions, and technology; we have got a civil engineering sector that is poised for a vibrant future ahead.

Eligibility

Eligibility (B.TECH): Passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Obtained at least 45% marks (42.5% in case of SC/ST) in the above subjects taken together.

Eligibility (B.TECH LEET): 50% marks in Diploma of 3 years or Diploma of 3 years (after 12th) Or should be pass in B.Sc. Degree of minimum three-year duration from a recognized university with Mathematics as a subject in 12th Standard, with at least 45% marks in aggregate (42.75% in case of SC/ST Candidates).

Eligibility

(M.TECH): Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the relevant field. Obtained at least 50% (47.5% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying Examination.
